Support the Library so it can provide more FREE services.

There are many ways you can support the library:

Your gift to the library means the difference between good libraries and great libraries. With private support, we can expand our collections to include more of what patrons want in materials and technology, enhance literary and humanities programs and bring books alive to serve the needs of children, teens, adults, and people with special needs.

The library does not accept donations of old computer equipment. Please contact The Goodwill or Salvation Army for non-book donations.

Call 714-960-8836 or email for more information.

Individual Study Rooms

The Central library offers small sound-proof rooms to our users. These rooms accommodate from 1-4 people and are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. The rooms are available for $2.00 per hour, payable in advance. Reservations are recommended but usually not necessary. Patrons must be at least 16 years old.

New research database available online!

If you've ever used the Reference USA database in the Reference Department you know it's an easy and efficient way to look up telephone or address information for millions of people and businesses in the United States. Now this database is accessible to HBPL cardholders from your homes or offices.  Click here for details.

Reference USA

From finding old friends and planning vacations to conducting market research and choosing a health care provider, Reference USA is an extensive database that offers the information you need-- in a fast, convenient format.  Listings for over 12 million businesses and 120 million households are included.

It's accessed from the Catalog/Renewals button on the left, and instructions are on the "Using Online Catalog" page on the right.  Requires HB library card and PIN.

Note that online research databases are available to our cardholders only, and require a Personal Identification Number (PIN). If you did not receive a PIN when your card was issued, or have forgotten it, stop by the Reception Desk at the Central Library, or the staff desks of any branch library for assistance.

Heritage Quest Online

HeritageQuest Online provides libraries a unique, growing collection of research materials for tracing family history and American culture. Beginning or professional genealogists can now use this powerful online library, with original page images for all documents, at their convenience, from home or at the library, 24x7. Indexes and original page images mean no additional trips, inter-library loan requests or work by researchers or staff.

HeritageQuest Online is designed specifically for patrons in public libraries who are either just beginning their family research or who after years of work are still uncovering their past. With over 25,000 books, the entire US Census, and other expanding collections, HeritageQuest Online gives library patrons the chance to tap in to one of the largest collections of genealogy material in the country.

It's accessed from the Catalog/Renewals button on the left, and instructions are on the "Using Online Catalog" page on the right.  Requires HB library card and PIN.
